Petra Perez Gonzales, age 91, of Hondo, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Born January 16, 1922, on the Monkhouse Ranch, near Hondo, she was the daughter of Jose and Lydia "Lillie" (Flores) Perez. Petra was a loving individual, enjoyed life and being with family and friends. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was our everything, even now. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Natividad Gonzales; daughter, Lucy Turruviate; son, Ernesto P. Gonzales; and brothers, Dionecio and Jesus Perez. Surviving are her daughter, Carolina Reyna and husband Raynaldo of Ft. Worth; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Julian Perez of Floresville and Jose "Joe" Perez Jr. of Saginaw MI. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 8, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section. Bearers are Eric Salinas, Marc Govea, Brian Escamilla, Trey Escamilla, Thomas Coronado and Julian Inocencio.
