Petra Arizola Sanchez of Yancey, 70, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. Born in San Antonio, Sept. 30, 1947, she was the daughter of Refugio and Maria Inez Frausto Arizola. Petra had worked as a nursing assistant at nursing homes in and around Hondo. She made many friends and acquaintances there and will be remembered and missed by by those who knew her. She loved playing cards and bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rodulfo Sanchez; son, Remigio Sanchez; brother, Remundo and Mando Arizola; and sister, Maria Alicia Arizola. Survivors include her sons, Reynaldo (Lydia) Peña and Ismael Sanchez, all of San Antonio, and Ernest (Isabel) Sanchez of Yancey; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Magdalena Fieros of San Antonio; and brother, Refugio "Cuco" (Santa) Arizola Jr. of San Antonio. It was Petra s request that no viewing or service be held.
