Petra DeLeon Santillano, age 91, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014. Born in Hondo, Feb. 24, 1923, she was the daughter of Valeriano and Pioquinta Davila DeLeon. She was a loving and devoted mother. Petra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Macario "Mac" Santillano; son-in-law, James Carroll; grandson, Ronald Robert "Ronnie" Ruiz; brothers, Jose, Ascencion "Chon", Diego, Enrique and Jesus; sisters, Daria Villarreal, Gracia Gonzales, Eustacia Garza and Jesusita Herrera. Survivors include her daughters, Santos "Sandy" Santillano of Hondo, Narcisa (John) Ruiz of San Antonio, Virginia (Ronald) Sherry of Devine, and Susie Carroll of Hondo; daughter-in-law, Josephine Santillano; sons, Gumecindo (Elida) Santillano of Hondo and Pedro Santillano of San Antonio; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Pedro DeLeon, and sister, Tomasa DeLeon, both of Plainview. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 9, 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section. Pallbearers were Anthony Santillano, Mario DeLeon, Amador Dominguez, John R. Ruiz Jr., Domingo Aguilar and Robert Herrera.
