Phillip Schmiz, age 68, of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012. Phillip and his twin sister were born July 2, 1944, in Orange to Albert Walter and Bertie Mae (Edwards) Schmiz. He graduated from Hondo High School in 1962. A sergeant in the Air Force, Phillip served during the Vietnam War. Later, he was a clothing store manager. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alberta Clark; and brothers, Albert Schmiz Jr. and Louis Schmiz. He is survived by his daughters, Yvette Schmiz and Monica Gutierrez and husband Eric; newborn grandson, Eric Joshua Gutierrez, all of Houston; and his twin, Phyllis Schoellman and husband James of Hondo. A private burial will be planned at a later date. The family suggests memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
