Rachel Barrios Rodriguez, formerly of Hondo, age 89, passed away at her home in Houston, Texas, on the morning of June 14, 2021.

Raquel, as she was know to family and friends, was born in Hondo on August 5, 1931, to Jose Barrios and Maria Garcia. She married Daniel Barrientes Rodriguez on May 6, 1946.

Raquel was very social and loved to dance. She was an active member of the Togetherness Club and volunteered with Catholic Charities through service to the elderly and cancer patients. Raquel was very proud to help and wanted to give back as she herself was a cancer survivor.

Raquel is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; daughter, Gloria Rodriguez Perez; and siblings, Maria Gloria Lopez, Jesus Garcia, Jose Barrios, Guadalupe Diaz, Maria Belia Hernandez, Amelia Mendoza and Maria Jesus Barrios.

She is survived by her daughter, sons and grandchildren, including: Belia Rodriguez Herrera, her husband Oscar and their daughters Marlene, Sydney and Allison; Ricardo Rodriguez, his wife Renée and their son Miles and daughter Adelle; Daniel Rodriguez, Jr. and his daughters Heather and Danielle; Gloria Rodriguez Perez's daughters, Andrea, Nadia Raquel and Katrina; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Olivia Flores.

Arrangements are under the direction of Guinn-Horger Funeral Home, Hondo.
