Rafael E. "Rifle" Carrasco of Hondo, 58, passed away suddenly in Arizona Tuesday, May 18, 2021, while traveling.

Born Mar. 24, 1963, in Hondo, he was the son of Ramon and Clara Esquivel Carrasco.

Rafael was a master of many trades, including mechanic, carpenter, plumber, construction—he did it all. He could fix almost anything and was always willing to help everyone, no matter what the need. He always made sure everyone was okay. He enjoyed eating out, drinking Big Red and going on trips.

Rifle, as he was known to family and friends, will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ramon Jr., Jessie, Jose and Guadalupe Carrasco, and Genoveva C. Pena.

He is survived by stepchildren, Aaron James "A.J" Carrasco  and Larissa Alcaraz; six grandchildren, Jaryn, Christian James, Danyn Jaymes, Ava Sophia, Kaden James and Niji Leseah; sisters, Margarita (Jose) Melendez, Terry (Hamilton) Duplessis, Frances C. Oranday, Jane Carrasco and Aurelia (Robert) Mares; brothers, Pedro (Julia) Carrasco and Robert (Lisa) Carrasco; and all his beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 28, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, with the Rosary recited at  7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers are Robert Mares, Aaron James Carrasco, Nicolas Zepeda, Tommy Delgado, Hamilton Duplessis and Jimmy Ray Oranday. Honorary bearers are Jesse Carrasco and Juan Carlos Herrera.
