Ralph Jacob (Buddy) Jones Jr. of Hondo and Carrizo Springs passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the age of 71. He was born April 10, 1948, in Boston MA, to Ralph Jacob Jones Sr. and Anna Laura Renken Jones. Buddy graduated from Hondo High School in 1966 and attended St. Mary's University on a baseball scholarship. He married Helen Ann Saathoff on Nov. 30, 1969, and together they had "the Jones boys": David, John, Robert and Bryan. Buddy became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church when his oldest son David was baptized. Buddy was employed at Schlitz Beer, Universal Rundle and at Texas Farm Bureau, where he was agency manager of the Carrizo Springs Branch. He enjoyed doing fundraisers with Hondo Lions Club and in 1982 he assisted in the fundraising effort to build the new Emergency Room wing for Medina Community Hospital (now Medina Regional). Buddy enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, golfing, "goat herding" and spending quality time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Anna Jones. Survivors include his four siblings: Rick and his wife Cookie, Steve and his wife P.J., Ann Gay Walker, and Michael and his wife Kathy; his four sons: David, his wife Ginger and their daughters Ellie and Hannah Jones of Hondo; John of Midland and his children, Jake, Jett and Addison Jones of Ingram; Robert, his wife Kara and their daughter Kadyn Jones of Uvalde; Bryan, his wife Brandi and their children Sterling and Tate Jones of Castroville; and their mother, Helen Ann Jones of Hondo. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hondo. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in Medina or Dimmit county.
