Ramon Carrasco, age 85, of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. Born Aug. 7, 1928, in Yancey, he was the son of Rafael F. and Genoveva (Ontiveros) Carrasco. Ramon was retired from the Texas Highway Department. He was a dedicated father, loving husband and a wonderful grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Aurora Carrasco; sons, Jessie Carrasco, Jose Carrasco; infant son, Guadalupe Carrasco; brothers, Sam Carrasco and Juan Carrasco; and sister, Minerva Amalla. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Clara (Esquivel) Carrasco; sons, Ramon Carrasco Jr. and wife Estella of Denton, Pedro Carrasco and wife Julia of Hondo, Rafael Carrasco of Austin, and Robert Carrasco and wife Lisa of San Antonio; daughters, Genoveva Pena and husband Juan of Colorado, Margie Melendez and husband Jose of New Mexico, Terry Duplessis and husband Hamilton, Frances Oranday and Mary Jane Carrasco, all of Hondo, and Aurelia Mares and husband Robert of Austin; 51 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Carrasco of Morton and David Carrasco of Tyler; and sisters, Linda Trinidad of Whiteface and Cristina Carrasco of Morton. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 8, 5 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers are Ramon Carrasco, Pedro Carrasco, Joe Carrasco, Jose Aleman, Aaron Carrasco and Ralph C. Aguirre (Junior), Ashley Carrasco and Jimmy Ray Oranday.
