Ramon DeLeon of Yancey, Texas, passed away May 21, 2004, at the age of 84 years, 3 months, 21 days. Ramon was born on January 31, 1920, to Manuel & Tivurcia (Sarabia) DeLeon in Yancey, Texas. Ramon was a founding member of the Louise, Texas LULAC Council. He was also a member of the GI Forum and the St. Procopius Catholic Church. He was preceded by his parents; wife: Guadalupe (Carrillo) DeLeon; granddaughters: Rachael Lira, Mr & Mrs Carlos & Jeanette Dupostye; great-grandchildren: Lucas Cardenas, Julian Miranda; brothers: Benito, Cipriano, Luciano, and Salome DeLeon. He is survived by sons: Pedro DeLeon and wife Estella of Yancey, Felix DeLeon and wife Mary of Yancey, Genaro DeLeon and wife Janie of Louise, Macario DeLeon and wife Martha of Louise, Ramiro DeLeon and wife Patty of Danevang, Domingo DeLeon of Devine; daughters: Dolores Cardenas and husband Joe of Louise, Ester Arrambide and husband Jimmy of El Campo, Flora DeLeon of Louise; 28 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; sister: Petra DeLeon of Yancey. The Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, May 23, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday, May 24, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The pallbearers were: Oscar DeLeon, Brian Salinas, Clint Ochoa, Ramiro DeLeon, Joe Cardenas, Noel DeLeon, Joel DeLeon, Albert DeLeon, Jay Cardenas, Johnathan DeLeon, Dusty Ochoa, Bonnie Ochoa, Andrew DeLeon, Ruben DeLeon. Interment will follow in Yancey Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Yancey Volunteer Fire Department or the Hondo Public Library.
