Ramona Faye
Prater Tarver
November 30, 1940 – April 26, 2025
Ramona Faye Tarver of Hondo passed away at the age of 84 in her home on Saturday April 26, 2025, surrounded by her family
Born on November 30, 1940 in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of Henry and La Deana Prater.
Ramona's passion in life was her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her measure of love was one that exceeded all boundaries. If she knew she was going to be with her family, she was beyond thrilled.
She also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Howard and Ramona spent many years in the woods camping and deer hunting with their children growing up and fishing at their cabin on the lake. Tony and Deanna's kids always had fun poking at their Dad because she had shot a record book deer. She enjoyed the banter about that. The many mornings and evenings fishing at the iron rail fence on Lucious Bayou were fond memories as well.
She, also, was always up for a shopping trip and loved the markets. She spent many days shopping with her daughter and daughter-in-law. When her grandson, Klay, was young, he and Howard spent many hours up and down the malls playing in the toy departments and getting snacks while shopping was taking place. She and Howard spent every weekend for 30-plus years with her son Tony and his wife Kathy at their home, cooking and visiting. She enjoyed this immensely.
Ramona was a constant image of beauty and grace in everything she did. She loved her husband of 67 years, dearly. They were each others best friend. We take solace in knowing she is rejoicing with our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven and know we will see her again soon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and La Deana Prater; her stepfather, Weldon C. Hillin; her brother, Don Henderson; and her son, Tony Tarver.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Howard L. Tarver; daughter, Deanna Kirksey, Her grandchildren, Klay and Kassie Kirksey, Kenneth Tarver, Amber and Mike Wilson, Taylor and Ryan Newsom, Courtney and Kevin King; daughter in law, Kathy Tarver; and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at Yancey Cemetery at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 29th.
