Raul N. Escamilla, age 80, of Hondo, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015. Born in Hondo Dec. 18, 1934, he was the son of Jose Maria and Benita Nira Escamilla, who preceded him in death. He was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs and Texas Longhorns and he supported the Hondo Owls. He enjoyed family gatherings and his hobbies included photography and filming parades. Survivors are his brothers, Ruben (Petra) Escamilla of Boerne and Enrique Escamilla of Hondo and sister, Olga (Jimmy) Jimenez. Memoral Mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo.
