Raymond Charles "Ray" Hickey, age 91, of Hondo passed away Monday, June 29, 2009. He was born April 22, 1918, in Plains, Kansas, son of John and Mary (Eakins) Hickey. Ray was a farmer, operating farms at Hondo and in Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elna K. (Saathoff) Hickey; sons, David Ray Hickey and Duane A. Hickey; and 12 brothers and sisters. Ray is survived by grandsons, Matthew Hickey of San Antonio and Samuel Lee Hickey and his wife Tara of Spring; granddaughter, Sara E. Holloway and husband Edward of Beaufort, SC; great-granddaughter, Addison Hickey of Spring; and the mother of his grandchildren, Denise Hickey of Hondo. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Mayer officiating. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
