Raymundo "Mundo" G. Tapia, age 73, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Apr. 16, 2011. He was born Mar. 15, 1938, in Hondo, the son of Manuel and Estefania (Gonzales) Tapia. He was a retired construction contractor. Raymundo and Victoria "Vickie" Jasso were married Nov. 22, 1961, and were looking forward to celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eusebio Tapia and Jose Tapia; and sisters, Simona Vosquez and Alicia Ybarra. He is survived by his wife; son, Michael Tapia Sr. and wife Pearl; daughters, Anarae Lopez and Donna Soliz; grandchildren, Michael Tapia Jr., Ryan Soliz, Lexie Galeas, Leanna Lopez, Johnny Ray Lopez and Luanna Lopez; great-grandchildren, Vanessa Soliz, Madilyn Tapia and Alyson Tapia; brothers, Rafael Tapia, Joaquin Tapia and Ernesto Tapia; stepbrothers, Inez Vallez and Johnny Tapia; and stepsister, Benita Quintanilla. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Apr. 20, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo. Pallbearers are Javier Hernandez, Miguel Rivera, Johnny Flores, Michael Tapia Jr., Ryan Soliz and Johnny Ray Lopez. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
