Richard Daniel (Dick) Zerr, age 73, of D'Hanis passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Born in Hondo, Tx, November 22, 1942, he was the son of Wilfred Zerr and Elsie Nehr Zerr. He graduated from D'Hanis High School in 1961 and attended Southwest Texas Junior College. In 1965 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Neubrucke, Germany, after completing basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana and medical training at Fort Sam Houston. After completing two years of service in the Army, he began a 35 year career with the railroad as a signal maintainer before retiring. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry J. Zerr and Myron Thomas Zerr. He is survived by his son, Randell Zerr; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Zerr; grandsons, Xander Zerr and Bryson Zerr; and sisters, Shirley M. Click of San Antonio, Rose Kent of Castroville, Dorothy Pryor of San Antonio and Judy Skiles of Dallas. Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel in Hondo. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 14, 9:30 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis.
