Robert Derrick Berg, age 27, of Hondo passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, following a swimming accident in Uvalde County. Born June 27, 1985, in San Antonio, he was the son of Robert L. and Tanna E. (Freeman) Berg. Robert is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Conrad Berg. He is survived by his wife, Natalie Ann Berg of San Antonio; mother, Tanna Berg of Hondo; father, Robert L. Berg of Cibilo; siblings, Brandy E. Quayle, Kyle James Berg, Brittany Berg and Kaylee Berg; grandparents, Rodney J. and Milly E. Freeman of D'Hanis and Mrs. Frankie Berg of Dayton, TX; nephews, Gavin L. Biesenbach, Adrian Diaz, and Dylan Quayle; and nieces, Katelynne M. Pumphrey and Reanna Quayle. Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section. Pallbearers were Kyle James Berg, Aaron Pumphrey, Blaine Freeman, Carl Biesenbach, Ben Sintek, Philip "Austin" Ingle, Dallas Hurd III, Tom Caldwell, Steve Berg, and Bart Pack. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church.
