Robert Warren "Bob" Dile of Hondo, 81, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016. Born Dec. 11, 1934, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Everet Elmer and Anna Jane Morrow Dile. He graduated high school in Australia and obtained a GED in the United States. He was an assemblyline worker for 35 years in aircraft manufacturing. A gifted wood carver, he made and donated 27 scale model WWII aircraft which are on display at the Medina County Museum. He was a rancher and enjoyed hunting, fishing, dutch oven cooking and story-telling. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Eugene Dile and Jerry Arthur Dile; and sister, June Marie Grable. He is survived by his wife, Melverda H. Schueling Dile; daughter, Martha Lyn (Martin) Surber of Mico; grandchildren, Brandon (Maria) Frazier of Hondo and Krystalyn (Ryan) Frazier of Mico and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Salazar of Hondo and Kayden Brown of Mico; and sister, Wanda Sink of Burlington, IA. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 4. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers are Walt "Gobbler" Thedford, Henry "Hammer" Thornberry, Fred Schueling, Jerome Bendele, Henry Balderach and Richard Moos. Honorary bearer is Dr. Robert T. Fitzgerald.
