Robert Delfino Flores, Sr. of Hondo, 88, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019. Born Aug. 4, 1931, in San Antonio, he was the son of Carlos H. and Rafaela Garcia Flores. Robert retired as master sergeant after a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force, having served during Korea and Viet Nam. He also had a 20-year career with Honeywell as a service specialist with the commercial division. A creative craftsman, he enjoyed working with his hands and could build almost anything. But his greatest joy was in taking care of his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Josephine Randolph and Cecilia Flores; brothers, Carlos Flores and Ernest Flores; daughter, Melinda Rita Flores; great-grandson, D'Artagnan Lamontagne; and son-in-law, David Tompkins. He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Gloria G. Flores; daughters, Alexandra Tompkins of San Antonio, Glorianna (Stephen) Cardenas of Helotes, Roberta (Joe) Ruiz, Sr. of Hondo; son, Robert (Gloria) Flores, Jr. of San Antonio; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and brother, Abelado "Abe" Flores of Lake Whitney. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
