Robert "Bob" H. McGiboney of Yancey passed from this life Sept. 20, 2023. He was 76.

Bob was born to Thelma Faseler and Robert McGiboney, Jr. in San Antonio.  As  an only child, he grew up with activities that influenced lifelong pleasures which included military history, classic  country music,  piano recitals, antique car restoration, historical guns, hunting, inventing patent designs, music composing,  neologism, Texas bar-b-que, chocolate candy bars, Lays potato chips and Coca Cola.

His dedication to family was evident in his around-the-clock care of his father and mother as their health declined. After laying them both to rest, he persisted in his above-mentioned activities, but added matrimonial dedication to his wife Becky, a missionary,  and her three kids. His new family life resulted in family drives thousands of miles from coast to coast, missionary service to local nursing homes, attending countless graduations of his kids' colleges, grad schools, and military ceremonies, managing the family ranch, and yearly visits to his wife's native Mexico.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, 2:00 p.m., at Yancey Methodist Church, 400 CR 743 in Yancey.
