Robert Charles Payton, age 83, of Lakehills passed away Thursday, Mar. 7, 2013. Born in Craig, CO, May 15, 1929, he was the son of George and Yoleta (Jones) Payton. He was a wildlife biologist with California Fish and Game. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine (Byrd) Payton; and brother, George Payton. Survivors include his children, Linda Corn and husband Robert of Redding CA, Debra Crough and husband John of Weed CA, Suzanne Gillies of Portland OR and Craig M. Payton and wife Elaine of Mt. Shasta CA; daughter-in-law, Helen Payton of Ovid MI; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Ted Payton and wife Lee of Newark CA; sister, Gloria Comstock and husband Paul of Dayton OH. Graveside service and interment was Sunday, Mar. 10, at Hondo Cemetery, Woodmen of the World Section.
