Roberto B. Perez, age 79, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011. Born August 12, 1932, in Hondo, he was the son of Bernardino and Emilia (Valdez) Perez. He served in the U.S. Army and owned Perez Grocery on 16th Street for many years. Roberto is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Josefina Hernandez. He is survived by his wife, Blanca Lilia (Quezada) Perez; daughter, Sylvia Nira and husband Armando of Oklahoma City; sons, Armando Q. Perez and wife Claudia Marizol of Del Rio, Robert Q. Perez Jr. and wife Yolanda of Hondo, Raul Q. Perez and wife Patricia of Holliday, and Joel Q. Perez and wife Katrina of Del Rio; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, at First Mexican Baptist Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
