Rogelio Ramirez Sr., age 83, of Hondo passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Born in Hondo March 17, 1932, he was a son of Cruz R. and Aurelia Zuniga Ramirez. He attended Hondo schools and served in the U. S. Army, earning the rank of sergeant. He was an insurance salesman. Rogelio is preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; sisters, Cipriana Hernandez and Sofia Ramirez; and son-in-law, Robert Simon. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Olivia Duran Ramirez; daughter, Thelma Simon of Hondo; sons, Rene Ramirez of Austin and Rogelio "Roy" (Terry) Ramirez Jr. of Hondo; grandchildren, Derek Simon, Cassandra Ramirez and Tamera Ramirez; sister, Esther (Joe) Ontiveros of Hondo; brothers, Jose (Margarita) Ramirez of Hondo and Luis (Elida) Ramirez of Natalia. Visitation at Guinn-Horger Chapel will be Thursday, Apr. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, Apr. 10, 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with interment following at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
