Rogelio F. Lopez, Sr., age 71, of Hondo passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, in San Antonio. He was born May 20, 1940, in Mexico, the son of Abundio and Maria Trinidad (Flores) Lopez. He was skilled carpenter by trade and to his beloved grandchildren, he was "Apa". Rogelio is preceded in death by his parents; son, Rogelio Lopez Jr.; and brother, Abundio Lopez Jr. He is survived by his wife, Felipa (Cipriano) Lopez of Hondo; sons, Joey Lopez and wife Nancy of Hondo, Valdo Sandoval and wife Ofilia of Devine; daughters, Eva Mendoza and husband Richard of Hondo, Rosa Maldonado and husband Mando of Boerne, Beatrice Garcia and husband Simon of Austin, Trine Lopez of Hondo, Felipa Rivera and husband Floyd of Hondo; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rosa Lopez and Maurcae Lopez, both of Mexico. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
