Ronald Wilbur "Ronnie" Knowles, age 60, of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012. Born March 24, 1951, in Hondo, he was the son of Granvil and Gladys Lucille (Grant) Knowles. He graduated Hondo High School and received his Bachelor's degree at North Texas State University. He taught in Houston and Hondo independent school districts. His strength and genuine concern for his fellow man will be remembered forever. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gary Leon Knowles, Audrey Jean Knowles, Geraldine Spears and Patricia Knowles. He is survived by his daughters, Rohanna J. Sykes and husband Quentin of Houston and Rhonda Knowles of Hondo; son, Ronnie Knowles Jr., of Hondo; grandchildren, Preston, Payton and Olivia Sykes and Ronald Jacob and Reagan Isabella Knowles; brothers, Lonnie R. Knowles and wife Reggy of Houston, David B. Knowles and wife Sandra of Plano, and Jeffrey L. Spears of San Antonio; sisters, Marian L. Holmes and husband Charles of Citrus Heights, CA, and Yvonne Spears-Smith and husband Joseph of Arlington. Visitation will be Friday, Mar. 9, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Mar. 10, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, Hondo. Interment will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery. Serving as bearers will be David Knowles, Lonnie Knowles, Jeffrey Spears, Ted Arcos, James J. Arcos, Joseph Smith and Hamilton Duplessis. The family suggests memorials may be made to Cottonwood Cemetery.
