Ronald James "Ronnie" Koch, age 56, of D'Hanis passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014. Born March 10, 1957, in Hondo, he was the son of Mathias Maurice "Matt" and Beatrice (Ney) Koch. He attended D'Hanis schools and Southwest Texas (Texas State) University where he earned a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Business. Active in the D'Hanis community, he served several years on the D'Hanis ISD Board and was board secretary board president. Ronnie served on the Bobcat Athletic Association for 11 years where he served as the Board Treasurer and as a member. He served on the Medina County Hospital Board. Ronnie was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he held a 3rd degree. He was a life long supporter of the Medina County Junior Livestock Association. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Francis Victor "Vic" and Beverly Hilberling, as well as his nephew, Joshua Blaine Hilberling. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Teresa (Hilberling) Koch; son, Gene William Koch; parents, M.M. and Beatrice Koch, all of D'Hanis; sisters, Doris Marie Koch of Round Rock and Suzanne Michelle Koch of D'Hanis; and brothers, Gary John Koch and wife Georgina of San Antonio and Joseph N. "Joey" Koch and wife Stephanie of D'Hanis; brothers-in-law, Michael Hilberling and wife Denise of Caldwell, and Patrick Hilberling and wife Jeannie of Tulsa, OK. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary at 10 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 10:15 a.m., was held Saturday, Jan. 18, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, D'Hanis. Pallbearers were Sammy Nooner, Bryce Britsch, Zeke Moncada, Fred Schueling, Gary Koch, Joey Koch and Tony Haass.
