Rosa Lee Davenport passed away on March 26, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the home of her son Michael, with family at her side. Rosa Lee was born Oct. 18, 1919, at the Stoepler Ranch House in Concho County near Eden, Texas, to Albert Richard Stoepler and Gladys Ethel Bingham Stoepler. She graduated high school in Concho County and went on to study nursing at the Concho County Hospital. She enjoyed painting, ceramics and raising beautiful flowers in her yard and garden. In her younger years she enjoyed raising Pekinese puppies. She was a member of the Churches of Christ in San Antonio. Rosa Lee married John Ralph Davenport on Nov. 17, 1940, at San Antonio, where they bought a farm and raised their boys. She is survived by her four sons, John Wayne, Michael Lee, James Albert and Stephen George; daughters-in law; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Faye Hutchinson; nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ralph Davenport; brother, George Stoepler; sisters, Isabell Boyer and Ollie Kent. Services and burial will be held at the Hondo Cemetary, Oakwood Section, on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow for friends and family at the Best Western Hotel in Hondo.
