Rosa Amalia Saathoff Herrera was born on January 5, 1931 to Amalia Sanchez Saathoff and Marshall Henry Saathoff on the Saathoff ranch in Hondo, Texas. . Rosa was taken into the loving arms of our Lord on June 19, 2006, and is now reunited with two of her loving daughters, Doris Jean and Patricia Sue. Rosa resided with her husband, Oscar, at Retama Manor Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas. Rosa was a tireless woman with a big heart who always availed herself to friends and family. She raised her family with love and discipline always putting their needs before her own. Rosa was young at heart and loved to dance to everything from Big Band, Country, Tejano, and Oldies. When it came to dancing, Rosa and Oscar were truly a pair. Rosa is survived by her loving husband, Oscar, of 59 years, her children, daughter and son-in-laws, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Oscar and Belia Herrera, grandchildren Marlene, Sydney, and Allison Herrera, and great grandson Chad Daniel; Theodore and Diane Herrera, grandchildren Patricia and Brett Blankenship, Ted Herrera, Jr., and great grandchildren, Priscilla and Christopher Quesada; grandson Paul Perez, son of Doris Jean Herrera; Stanley and Ruth Herrera, grandson's David and Karen Bierman, Christopher and Kristian Herrera, and great grandchildren Kory Bierman and Christopher Keegan Herrera; Rose Ann and Sig Cantu, grandchildren William Sanchez, Jr., Philip and Joela Sanchez, and great grandchildren Erica Michelle, Lil Philip, and Olivia Lynn; and Debbie and Galo Garcia, II, and grandson Galo Garcia, III. Rosa is also survived by her siblings and in-laws, Gladys and Andy Simon, John Henry Saathoff, Dewey Adolph and Alice Saathoff, Edmundo Herrera, Herbert and Florence Herrera, Carlos and Carmen Herrera, Diane and Jim Holly, Mary and John Puckett, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosa is preceded in death by her parents, Marshal Henry and Amalia Saathoff, and daughter's, Patricia Sue Herrera and Doris Jean Perez. The Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, at the Living Waters Christian Worship Center in Hondo. The burial will follow at the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
