Rosalia "Chalia" Tovar Fohn of Hondo/Yancey passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at the age of 96.
Born Feb. 3, 1925, she was the daughter of Sostenes and Sarapia Felan Tovar.
Chalia loved her family fiercely and steadfastly, and will be remembered fondly for her strong-willed spirit. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was dedicated to caring for her loved ones. She loved to cook for others, always making sure those in her home were well fed. In her free time, she took great joy in her bingo games.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Fohn Sr.; son-in-law, Phillip Wolfe; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Fohn; and sisters, Eva Leal, Julia Jasso, Adelina Garcia, Lupe Seelig, Concha Tovar and Antonia Guzman.
Survivors include her sons, Eleno Fohn and Edward Fohn Jr. (Viola), all of Yancey; daughters, Roberta Wolfe of Pearsall and Josie Flores (Maurice) of Rio Medina; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Guinn-Horger Chapel will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Pallbearers are Luke Wolfe, Maurice Flores, Norberto Salazar, Sr., Norberto Salazar, Jr., Marty Resendez and Sammy Morales.
