Rose Mary Herrell of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016. She was 92. Born in Anson TX, Dec. 2, 1923, she was a daughter of Charles Beman Edmonds and Emily Annis Edmonds. She lived in Arlington from 1959 through the mid-1980's, raising three children, and earning a BS in mathematics from then-Arlington State College (now UT Arlington). She was a member of First Baptist Church. An aviation engineer, she was on the team that built the first control tower at San Antonio International Airport and various other airport facilities in Texas and Louisiana. She loved gardening, crosswords, puzzles and birdwatching. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her only sister, Evelyn Edmonds; and her husband, Isaac Woodrow Herrell. Survivors include her son, Joe Herrell of Arlington; daughter, Sue Ellen (Michael) Willis of Hondo; son, Wayne (Janice) Herrell of Aurora CO; grandchildren, Jeanne (Francesco) Lamourt, Annice Reed, Virginia (Trent) Libby, Shannon (Daniel) Pruske, Benjamin Herrell, Morgan Herrell and Bryan Herrell; and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Nicholas, Caelan, Asher, Jaiden and Isaac. Graveside funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2:30 p.m., at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Ft. Worth. The family suggests memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association in her name and remembering her husband Isaac W. Herrell.
