Ruben Torres, Sr., age 62, of Hondo passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, in San Antonio

Born Aug. 30, 1963, in Hondo, he was the son of Gregorio Torres, Sr. and Margarita Sanchez Torres.

Ruben was the youngest male in our family, he was our baby.  Even though he was the youngest, he grew taller and stronger than all our brothers. He also grew to be a supportive, helpful and genuinely caring person to all he met.

He started working at a young age and was a very hard worker. Everyone could count on him for any kind of help or support. Always respectful and courteous to all, he had a great, contagious sense of humor and that will be missed. As his sister, I know I could always count on him to have my back. My baby brother, I know I always told you that I loved you and I am glad you always called on me, too, for help.  We love you and will continue to love you.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Diana Ybarra.

He is survived by his son, Ruben Torres, Jr.; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brothers, Eddie Torres and Gregorio Torres, Jr.; sisters, Norma Gomez (Gustavo) and Lisa Torres; and brother-in-law, Martin Ybarra.

Visitation will be at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. Rosary will be recited at 11:00 and funeral service will be at 11:30, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Annex.
