Ruby Elsie Teer of Hondo, Texas, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2006, at the age of 84. She was born July 14, 1921, on the family ranch near Tarpley in Medina County, the daughter of Otto Charles & Florence A. (Hermes) Marquis. She became a child of God through Holy Baptism at the Catholic Church in Bandera. As an adult she affirmed her faith through confirmation on March 22, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and she remained a faithful member until her death. Her childhood was spent on the family ranch near Tarpley, and she attended the Rothe School located in the area. As a young woman she married and moved to Pasedena, Texas, where she lived until moving back to Hondo to be near her parents. She was employed at the Winn's Store and then at Nester's Supermarket until she retired. After her father died she sold her home and moved in with her mother to care for until her mother's death. Afterwards she looked after other older persons, often by driving them to the store and other places. When Ruby fell and broke her hip she was no longer able to care for herself, and she moved into Community Care Center. At the time of her death she was a resident of Medina Valley Health and Rehab in Castroville. We will remember her beautiful gray hair, and how she always dressed neatly. She was always appreciative of those that brought her Holy Communion, and she wished she could still attend worship services in church She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Otto Charles Marquis, Jr..
