Russell Alvin "Rusty" Gregory of Three Rivers, Texas, passed away August 10, 2004, at the age of 79 years, 4 months, 6 days. He was born in Edna, Texas on April 4, 1925, the son of John A. & Elbe (Ezzell) Gregory. In June of 1943 Rusty joined the U.S. Navy and participated in World War II as a Fireman First Class. After the war he was Honorably Discharged in February 1946 to return home. Some years later, finding the love of his life, on March 31, 1952 Rusty took Barbara Louise Lippard as his bride in Beeville, Texas. Rusty went to work at the San Patricio Electric Company, but in 1960 he transferred to Hondo where he was employed by the Medina Electric Co-op and retired with them in 1988. Shortly after retirement he and Barbara returned home to Three Rivers, where they lived out their days happily raising their cows. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara whom struggled with cancer passed away on September 19, 2003. His son Russell Clinton Gregory who lost his life in a tragic auto accident on April 7, 1985. He was alos preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers. He is survived by his daughter Patsy Wiemers and husband Lonnie of Hondo; grandchildren: Colleen Zinsmeyer and husband Kevin of Castroville, Farrah Neuman and husband James of Hondo, and Russell Gregory of Florida; great grandchildren: Tyler Neuman of Hondo, Rainee Neuman of Hondo, Tristan Zinsmeyer of Castroville, with a fourth great grandchild on the way, expected to be a boy; sisters: Alma Wright and Imo Gene Vaught, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as countless other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, August 12, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Roberson Funeral Home of Three Rivers. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday August 14, at the Church of Christ in Three Rivers with Don Jones officiating. Pallbearers are: Kevin Zinsmeyer, James Neuman, Albert Wright, Jr., Carroll Prewitt, Rod Crawford, Kelly Lowe. Interment will follow in Three Rivers Cemetery. The family has requested that those who wish to give memorials do so in memory of Rusty by sending them to the Church of Christ in Three Rivers or to the VFW in George West.
