Ruth Ellen (Nester) Grollimund-Ney, age 87, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009. She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in D'Hanis to Henry and Ella Theresa (Brown) Nester. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Ruth spent many years working at Alamo Lumber Co. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard, and being with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Grollimund; brothers, Oscar William, Maurice, Herbert, Ervin and Otis Nester; and sisters, Stella Grinder and Lorene Lanford; and grand daughter, Joy Wiemers. Ruth is survived by her husband, William J. "Bill" Ney of Hondo; daughter, Peggy Wiemers and husband Curtis of Hondo; two grandchildren, Curtis G. Wiemers and Letha Garrison and husband Mark, all of D'Hanis; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Wiemers and wife Sarah, Jacob Garrison and Cody Garrison; sisters, Ruby McIntire of Georgetown, Charlene Saathoff and husband Hugo of Hondo, and Darlene Freeman and husband Vyron of Sabinal; and brother-in-law, Chuck Grinder of San Antonio. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Richard Moos, David Bendele, Gary Holzhaus, Charles Story, Hugo Saathoff and Mark Ney.Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
