Ruth Zelma Love of Yancey, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 2, 2007, at the age of 97. She was born in Mountain Home, Texas, October 25, 1909, the daughter of Thomas Andrew & Caroline Elizabeth (Spellmann) Duderstadt. At the age of 9 she began playing the organ for church services and this continued for the next 80 years at the various places she lived throughout her life. Mrs. Love was a member of the Yancey United Methodist Church. Ruth attended both Southwest State Teachers College in San Marcos where she studied music and played on the basketball team, and Sul Ross State University in Alpine where she completed her degree in Music and Elementary Education. A retired public school teacher, Mrs. Love began her teaching career at LaCoste, Biry, and Black Creek during the Great Depression, and later taught at the Navarro and Rankin schools. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edard William Love, Sr.; brother, Ernest F. Duderstadt, Thomas Tennille Duderstadt, James L. Duderstadt; sisters, Anna Laura Vaughn, Honor Grace Woerndell. Ruth is survived by her son, Ed Love, Jr. and wife Anna of San Antonio; daughter, Dawn Lauress Love Turner and husband Jeff of Brownwood; grandchildren Clinton A. Love; Geofrey Ty Turner; Nicole Hampton; Clayton A. Love; Sabrina Culvey; Kelly L. Turner; and Marcus N. Love, and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Mitchell of Kingsville. The Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home on Friday April 6, and the Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the Yancey United Methodist Church. The casketcarriers were Richard Woerndell, Ty Turner, Jeff Turner, K. P. Duderstadt, Terry B. Tilley, Clayton Love. The honorary casketcarrier was Bob Peters. Burial will follow at the Yancey Cemetery.
