Samuel Hugh Faseler was born in Hondo on Dec. 15, 1949. He passed away Sunday, Mar. 22, 2009, at the age of 59. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Faseler, and his mother, Florine (Ward) Faseler. Sam really enjoyed being around his family, and always looked forward to the holiday celebrations. He was a kind-hearted person and would do anything for anybody. His work carried him into all phases of construction: painting, carpentry, and masonry. He also was a roughneck in the oil fields and often commented on how he enjoyed the oil field business. He loved to tell stories of his high school football days and how rewarding the team experience was. He also liked to talk about working on his father's ranch as a boy, both farming and ranching. Sam is survived by his sisters and brothers, Barbara Gilbreath and husband Tommy of Tyler, Maxine Davis and husband Bill of Garland, Carolyn Barta of San Antonio, Don Faseler and wife Terry of San Antonio, Milton Faseler and wife Peggy of Helotes, Morris Faseler and wife Sandy of Hondo, and Douglas Faseler and wife Laura of Garden Ridge and Seguin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, Mar. 25, 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, Mar. 26, at 10 a.m. Both will be at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel in Hondo. Pallbearers are Roy Flores, Hunter Faseler, Beau Faseler, Brian Faseler, Jason Masters, Garland Keilman, John Wondra and Jon Cavalier. Interment will be at the Yancey Cemetery.
