Samuel Garcia Sr., age 60, of Yancey passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010. Born Sept. 4, 1950, in Hondo, he was the son of Augustine Sr. and Trinidad (Soliz) Garcia. He was a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Juan Garcia; sister, Guadalupe G. Sanchez; and brother, Juan Luis Garcia. Survivors are his wife, Margarita (Garcia) Garcia; sons, Samuel Garcia Jr. and Danny Garcia; granddaughter, Keirah Garcia; siblings, Juanita Villaneuva and husband Martin of LaGrange, Victoria Heissler and husband Johnny of Von Ormy, Augustine Garcia Jr. and wife Anita of Lytle, Jose Manuel Garcia and wife Linda of Moore, Joe Frank Garcia Sr. and wife Josie of Hondo; Rosie Thompson and Larry Burrell of Castroville, Mary Lou Velarde and husband Roy of Big Foot, Mary Jane Arausa and husband Willie of Hondo, and Ruby Ann and Billy Joe Gonzales of Pearsall. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Pallbearers are nephews, Joe Frank Garcia Jr., Travis Lopez Jr., David Thompson, John Anthony Garcia, Miller Garcia, J.R. Villaneuva, Daniel Thompson, Rudy Contreras, Armando Gutierrez and Rolando Gutierrez. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery.
