Santos Ramirez Cortinaz, age 83, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Born Nov. 1, 1926, in Hondo, he was the son of Enemencio and Antonia Ramirez Cortinaz. He served in the Texas National Guard and was retired from Universal Rundle. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cecilia Abrego Cortinaz; daughter, Sophia Correa; brothers, Frank, Manuel, and Octaviano Cortinaz; and sisters, Velia Escamilla, Elvira Salazar and Fildelia Barron. He is survived by his children, Estella Garcia and husband Carlos of LaVernia, Maria Luisa Garcia and husband Robert, David Cortinaz and wife Matty, Santos Cortinaz Jr. and wife Hilda, Robert Cortinaz and wife Dolores, Johnny Cortinaz, and Hope Schlentz and husband Glen, all of San Antonio, Ida Gauna, Elsa Campos and husband Ramon, and Cindy Cortinaz, all of Hondo, Rogelio Cortinaz and wife Vela of Illinois, and Rudy Cortinaz and wife Kysha of Georgia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, June 11, with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m., and the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, both at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
