Santos M. Perez, age 86, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013. Born Nov. 1, 1926, in Hondo, he was the son of Gustavo C. and Juana (Maldonado) Perez. Santos worked at a rock quarry for more than 30 years, serving as construction foreman most of that time. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elvira Garcia Perez; son, Martin Perez; and sister, Elvira Ruiz. He is survived by sons, Gustavo Perez, Reginaldo Perez and wife Casandra; daughter, Mary Lou Lopez and husband Ernest, all of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Ventura Perez of Saginaw MI; and sisters, Guadalupe Hernandez of Saginaw MI, Corina Amara and Ernestina Mendoza, both of San Antonio. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Juan J. Mendoza Jr., Marc Lopez, manuel D'Campo, Isaiah Lopez, Steven P. Lopez and Gabriel Lopez. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
