SGT Paul Carlo Danna, age 23, of Castroville, Texas passed away on September 24, 2009 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. SGT Danna was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 26, 1985. He attended schools in Devine, Texas, Langley AFB, Virginia, Del Rio, Texas and was a 2004 graduate of Medina Valley High School in Castroville, Texas. He also attended Texas A&M University in Kingsville as well as Palo Alto College in San Antonio. SGT Danna enlisted in the United States Army on July 6, 2005 and served at Ft. Benning, Georgia, Ft. Lewis, Washington, and Rose Barracks, Vilseck, Germany. He proudly served his country for 15 months at Camp Taji, Iraq where he was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Infantry Division, 2nd Cavalry Regiment (Stryker Combat Regiment). SGT Paul Danna is survived and will be desperately missed by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Danna, Jr. of Castroville, big brother, 2LT Frank R. Danna, III and wife Vanessa of Ft. Bliss, Texas and kid sister, PFC Kathryn C. Danna of Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Survivors also include his loving grandmother, Henrietta L. Rivas of San Antonio, uncles Robert Rivas and wife Sylvia of El Paso and Robert D. Brown of Devine, devoted aunts are Guadalupe Rivas of San Antonio, Henrietta R. Smith and husband Jim of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriquez and husband Gilbert of Austin, Debbie Martinez and husband Abel of Devine and Yolanda Arizola and husband Raul of Edinburg, Texas. SPC Paul Danna was preceded in death by his grandfathers Ramon M. Rivas (US Army/WWII) and Frank R. Danna, Sr. (US Army/Korea), grandmother, Josephine B. Danna and his beloved aunts, Connie Rivas Brown and Irma Rivas-Estrella. Visitation will be held at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Rosary will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Mass of Resurrection will be Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Paul will be laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
