Shirley Griffin McBroom passed away on July 1, 2026, and entered the loving presence of her Lord and Savior. Born on June 11, 1933, in Sabinal, Texas, she was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Jerrine Griffin, and brother Don.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her children, Craig McBroom and his wife, Melanie, and Jerri Moser of Midlothian; her granddaughters, Natalie Dirting and her husband, Brett, of Mansfield, and Katie Savage and her husband, Brad, of Dallas; her grandsons, Joshua Wittmann and his wife, Jordan, and Caleb Wittmann of New Orleans; and her great-granddaughters, Harlow and Vivienne Dirting and Roczen Savage, who affectionately called her Gigi.
A proud graduate of Sabinal High School, Shirley continued her education at Southwest Texas State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She spent 29 years devoted to public education, teaching at Somerset, Kate Schenck, and Harlandale, where she touched the lives of many students with her care and dedication.
A lifelong follower of Christ, she was actively engaged in churches in Sabinal, Somerset, San Antonio, and Midlothian, and was frequently involved in singing groups.
