Silviano Cuevas Cuellar, Sr., age 81, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Born May 4, 1928, in Hondo, he was the son of Guadalupe Sr. and Clementina (Cuevas) Cuellar. He grew up as a migrant farm worker, worked for a time at Gary Aircraft, and was a custodian at Hondo High School. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lidia (Mendoza) Cuellar; an infant son; sisters, Dominga Padron, Santos Cuellar, Maria Hernandez, Leonore Barron; and brothers, Antonio Cuellar, Trinidad Cuellar Sr., and Guadalupe Cuellar Jr. He is survived by daughters, Dominga Alvarado and husband Joel Sr. of Hondo, Clementina Ybarra and husband Ramon of Camp Wood, Stella Ibarra and husband Arthur of San Antonio, Lucy Frias and husband Antonio of Bandera, Louisa Cuellar and husband Esteban Hondo, Virginia Hernandez and husband Enrique of Hondo; sons, Silbiano Cuellar Jr. and wife Rosemary of Hondo, John Cuellar and wife Carol of Austin, Jose Cuellar and wife Margaret of DeLeon, Alex Cuellar of Austin, Christopher Cuellar and wife Sally of D'Hanis, Jesse Cuellar, and Manuel Cuellar, both of Austin; grandchildren, Joel Alvarado Jr., Marisa Cuellar, Diana and Sara Cuellar, Tanya Cuellar, Sergio Ybarra and wife Crystal, Alexia Ybarra, Analycia Cuellar, Natalie and Samantha Ibarra, James, Michael and Jennifer Cuellar, Peter, Marcos and Miguel Frias, Fabian and Cassandra Cuellar, and Lisette and Roman Hernandez; and two great-grandchildren. Rosary was led by Jose Mares on Sunday and Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 3, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Fr. Ken Dakin officiating. Pallbearers were his seven sons. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
