Stephen Joe Burton of Midland, formerly of Yancey, passed away Friday, April 24, 2026 in Plano. He was 52.

Born May 24, 1973, in Houston, he was the son of Stanley Joe and Donna Ann Compton Burton, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his nephew, Brandon Henley-Massey.

In his younger years, Stephen had a passion for skateboarding and music. His passion for music led him to be a member of two bands, Pusher and Cadillac to Mexico. Later on, he enjoyed building and riding Harley-Davidsons.

He is survived by his son, Ethan Burton and wife Abbie of Kentucky; daughter, Kaitlyn Burton of Kentucky; grandson, Everett; siblings, Polliann Massey (Woody), Jessica Rupe (Roger) and Nathan Burton, all of Midland, Texas; and extended family.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 1, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, Hondo TX. Interment will follow at Yancey Cemetery.
