Steve C. Corley, age 69, of Yancey passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009. Born Oct. 8, 1939, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, he was one of 13 children of Leif and Lena (Higdon) Corley. His parents and nine siblings preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Connie Mae (Parker) Corley; daughters, Pam Black, Dorothy Vaughn and husband Eric, Denise Corley, Laura Corley, all of California, and Terri Been and husband Stephen of Lampassas; sons, Jeffrey Wood, Joel Wood and wife Melissa of Devine, Bobby Harris and wife Rhonda of San Antonio, and Michael Shane Corley of Dallas; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dottie and Hattie; and brother, Herman, all of Kentucky. A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church in Yancey on August 8, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. Services concluded at the church.
