Steven Curtis McGill, age 57, of Hondo, passed away November 30, 2010. He was born October 8, 1953, in Mountain Home, ID, the son of Robert and Angeline Ruez McGill. He was a graduate of the Universities of Oklahoma and Nebraska, and the U.S. Army Academy of Health Services at Ft. Sam Houston. He served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army and was currently a member of the Texas National Guard. He also served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan as well as in the 31st Combat Support Hospital in Iraq. He was twice awarded the Bronze Star. He was a physician's assistant with MedCare Associates in Castroville and with Bandera Family Practice. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Robert Lawrence; and his mother. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Colunga McGill; son, Kevin Lawrence McGill; daughters, Cierra Lawrence McGill and Serena Lawrence McGill, all of Hondo; father, Robert McGill and stepmother, Frances McGill, both of FL; and brothers, Robbie McGill of CA, David McGill stationed in South Korea and Rodger McGill of CA. Funeral service was Dec. 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kurt Peck, Kevin and David McGill, Jose Luis Valladolid, Oscar Davalos and Edwin Lilie. The family suggests memorials may be made to the McGill Children College Fund at Hondo National Bank.
