Susan Marie Kolacek Payne of Hondo, age 64, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021.

Born in Three Rivers, March 15, 1957, she was the daughter of Max and Henrietta White Kolacek.

Susan was a devoted wife of almost 43 years, beloved mother of three, an amazing and loving Mimi who was devoted to her five grandchildren, and would go to the end of the world for them all.

She grew up in Cotulla and was a proud high school graduate of the Class of 1976. She was a graduate of Ranger College where she played basketball for two years before marrying the love of her life. Her dedication to the rearing of her children was steadfast and always reliable when it came to all of their extracurricular activities. Later in life, she carried on the same qualities with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Max "Sonny" Kolacek.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Payne; children, Dawn Payne of Quihi, Carl and Fallon Payne of George West, and Brandi Payne of Hondo; grandchildren, Kaylie, Carter, Vance, Harrison and Finley; and sister, Beverly Hood of  Von Ormy.

Family and friends will begin to gather at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10:00. Services will conclude at the chapel.
