Sylvia Viola Silva Fohn, age 79, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at her home.

Viola was born in Pearsall Sept. 27, 1944,  to Eusebio Silva and Elena Rodriguez Silva.

She and Edward Fohn, Jr., were married March 8, 1980. Together, they built a life in Yancey, Texas. Viola and Edward never had children of their own, but they loved all of their nieces and nephews very much. Viola was a wonderful wife, sister, sister-in-law daughter-in-law, and  aunt to 18 nieces and nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maria Alma Silva Ortegon; brothers, Eusebio Silva Jr., Ruben Silva and Ramiro Silva; and in-laws, Edward Sr. and Rosalia "Chalia" Fohn, Jesus Ortegon, Maria Elena Silva , Fernando Ornelas, Phillip Wolfe, and Sylvia Fohn.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Edward "Kookie" Fohn Jr.;  siblings, Lucia Silva, Rachel Silva, Frances Silva, Connie S. Ornelas and Ramona S. Treviño (Roy); and in-laws, Roberta Wolfe, Eleno Fohn and Josie Fohn Flores (Maurice).

Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church will be Thursday, Nov. 30, at 10:00 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. and interment at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.
