Terry L.
Teague
April 2, 1953 – August 10, 2025
Terry L. Teague, 72, formerly of Hondo, passed away in San Antonio on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025, no doubt to be greeted by eternal confederate militia characters of years gone by.
Born April 2, 1953, in Tokyo, Japan, he was the son of Robert A. and Mildred Lee Shafer Teague, who preceded him in death.
Considered a "miracle child" by his doctors, with their help, he fought cystic fibrosis and survived decades longer than was expected.
In spite of numerous long stays in care facilities, Terry lived an active, full life. He graduated Hondo High School in 1971; was sports writer and photographer for the Hondo Anvil Herald; was elected to a two-year term on the Hondo City Council (2006-2008); and volunteered to serve on the City Parks Board and as chairman for 15 years.
An avid Civil War history buff, he was a member of the Behind the Lines Civil War re-inactment group known as the 15th Texas Regiment, Cleburn's Division, and would haul his authentic canon and other paraphrenalia to any place the group was performing.
Terry loved music. He had a collection of over 600 albums and 650 45s. Terry found a jukebox and many hours were spent with his wife listening and dancing to the old records.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Collier Teague; brother, Robert A. Teague II (Louise); nephew, Robert A. Teague III; stepchildren, Kristy Ramano and Michael Myers; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
