Thelma Ramirez Simon of Hondo, 59, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017. Born in Hondo, July 26, 1958, she was the daughter of Rogelio Z. and Olivia Duran Ramirez. Thelma was a clerk for the City of Hondo where she had been employed 30 years. A Class of 1976 graduate of Hondo High School, she was a soft-spoken woman with a big heart and a sweet, gentle smile. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Robert A. Simon; and brother, Steve D. Ramirez. Survivors include her mother, Olivia D. Ramirez of Hondo; son, Derek Simon of Hondo; brothers, Rene Ramirez of Austin and Rogelio "Roy" (Terry) Ramirez Jr. of Hondo; and nieces, Cassie and Tammy Ramirez. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 14, 6 to 7 p.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 15, 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
