Theodora (Sanchez) Tobar, age 80, of Yancey passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011. She was born Apr. 1, 1931, in Yancey, daughter of Manuel and Margarita "Maggie" (Seelig) Sanchez. She was a homemaker whose beautiful, sweet spirit will be dearly missed by all who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rudolfo and two infants; and sisters, Dominga Rodriguez, Delfina Tovar and two infants. Theodora is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alifonso Tobar; son, Albert Tovar and wife Janet of Yancey; granddaughters, Katie Looney and husband Jim of Lakewood, CO, and Melanie Tovar of San Antonio; step-granddaughter, Christina Torrey of San Antonio; three great-grandchildren, Maddy Looney, Emily Tovar and Edan Wicks; sisters, Ramona Sanchez and Irene Pruneda, both of Kerrville, and Angelita "Helita" Sanchez of Yancey; brothers, Tomas Sanchez, Luis Sanchez and wife Ramona of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo, followed by interment at the Yancey Cemetery. Pallbearers were Efrain Rodriguez, Richard Tovar, Ernest Sanchez, Gabriel Rodriguez, Matthew Capps and Ismael Sanchez.
