Tomasa "Tommie" Leyva Barrios, 68, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Born in Hondo, Nov. 27, 1947, she was the daughter of Eduardo and Sirilda Rios Leyva. She was a retired teacher aide. Tommie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Norberto Leyva. Survivors include her husband, Arturo G. Barrios; daughters, Elizabeth (Jose A. III) Ytuarte of Hondo and Tabitha B. (Hector) Salinas of San Antonio; son, Arturo (Margie) Barrios Jr. of Alice; eight grandchildren; brother, Domingo (Doris) Leyva of Scurry; and sister, Estella Leyva of Castroville. Rosary at 2 p.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 2:30 p.m., will be held Thursday, May 5, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
