Tommie (Helvey) Pounds Ames, age 81, of Kyle, formerly of Andrews, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. Born August 27, 1931, in Levelland, she was the daughter of T. J. and Frankie (Rush) Helvey. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth L. Helvey; and nephew, Douglas Helvey. Surviving are her children, Danny Pounds and wife Charolotte of Lakeway, Carol DeArment and husband Rick of Garden Ridge and Blaine Pounds and wife Alisha of Pflugerville; seven grandchildren, Shana, Trey, Leigh, Stacy, Sara, Kent and Laci; and six great-grandchildren, Woodley, Russell, Daniel, David, Georgia and Pyper; brother, Frank Helvey and wife Marilyn; sister, Barbara Hathcock; sister-in-law, Nancy Helvey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Church of Christ in Hondo. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. The family suggests memorials may be made to Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Hwy. 16 N, Medina, TX 78055.
